Accept PayPal USD payments

Plenty of buyers met their first stablecoin inside the PayPal app. PYUSD gives those customers a way to spend a balance they already trust at a checkout that has nothing to do with PayPal's rails. The name on the token does quiet work, because a buyer who hesitates at an unfamiliar ticker does not hesitate at this one.

How PYUSD settles here

Each payment gets its own forwarding address whose destination is fixed to your treasury when the address is created, and where the setup allows it the payment settles into your treasury directly. NoHoldPay's job is narrow: watch the chain, match the transfer to your invoice, and sign the webhook that tells your store it confirmed. Custody never enters the picture.

On Ethereum, customers can pay PYUSD without holding the network's gas token through gasless checkout.

Why merchants take PayPal USD

The case for PYUSD is the buyer who found stablecoins through PayPal rather than through an exchange. They can move PYUSD out of the app into a wallet of their own and spend it on-chain, and a checkout that lists it is exactly where they would. Because PYUSD implements EIP-3009 transfer authorizations, that buyer can pay gasless on eligible EVM networks by signing an authorization, useful for wallets holding the token and nothing besides it, which describes this audience often. Settlement is an ordinary on-chain transfer to an address fixed to your own treasury, with nobody standing between you and the funds.

Worth knowing

A PYUSD payment never routes through PayPal, even though PayPal's name is on the token. It is a public-network token transfer, settling to an address that exists for that payment only and is fixed to your treasury. Paxos issues PYUSD under trust-company regulation, which is why it comes up in compliance conversations alongside the other regulated dollars. Buyers who keep PYUSD inside the PayPal or Venmo app withdraw it on-chain first, a step the apps support, and from there any wallet can pay with it.

The platform fee is 0.5% per confirmed payment, prepaid. New accounts start with $50 of live credit, covering roughly the first $10,000 processed. Checkout ships hosted, or through the WooCommerce and OpenCart plugins.

Common questions

Do customers need a PayPal account to pay with PYUSD?
No. PYUSD is a token on public networks, and any wallet holding it can pay the checkout like any other transfer. A PayPal or Venmo balance is a common place buyers acquire it before withdrawing on-chain, but the payment itself is wallet to address, with no login anywhere.
Is a PYUSD payment as reversible as a PayPal payment?
No, and for a merchant that is the appeal. A PYUSD transfer is on-chain settlement with no dispute mechanism attached, so the chargeback exposure that follows card and PayPal balance payments does not follow the token. A refund, if you choose to give one, is a deliberate transfer from your own wallet.
Which buyers actually pay in PYUSD?
Mostly people who entered stablecoins through PayPal or Venmo rather than through an exchange, plus buyers who like paying with a brand they recognize. The audience skews newer to crypto, which makes PYUSD worth listing for shops whose customers are mainstream rather than crypto-native.
